Rotary Craft Beer Brew Festival

Thursday, September 14, 2017

The Visalia Rotary Community Foundation (“VRCF”) and College of the Sequoias (“COS”) have joined together for a special evening to raise funds and develop awareness of a new COS Scholarship designed to attract the best, brightest and most talented students in Visalia.

Stan Carrizosa, President of COS, has instituted what is now known as the President’s Scholars Program.  This is a select program for which students can apply based on their academic achievement and performance in high school.  Those who meet the program criteria are reviewed for selection into the program.  Once selected, they are granted full-ride financial scholarships and unique support services to attend throughout their tenure at COS.  The VRCF has historically promoted education of Visalia students in order to attempt to retain bright, committed individuals who might stay in the Visalia area.  Thus far, VRCF has an endowment of more than $1.5 million dollars dedicated to scholarships with a total endowment of more than $4.5 million dollars.

The scholars program will be for 20 students who will receive approximately $2,000 per year per individual.  The VRCF wishes to raise $350,000 that would assist 7 students.  A successful approach has been made to fund a portion of this amount, however there is still a need for more than $50,000 to be raised.

Therefore, both VRCF and COS have agreed to collaborate on a fundraiser - the Rotary Craft Beer Festival.

The Festival will be held at the College of the Sequoias Porter Field House.  It will feature craft beer producers from our area, along with delicious barbequed meats to enrich the experience.

The festival will be on Thursday September 14th from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at a price of $50 per ticket.  A VIP pre-event will be held between 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and will be $100 per ticket.
